My name is Steve Hudson, and I want to be your Congressman. I grew up in a supportive family of meager means in humble surroundings. We didn’t enjoy many luxuries but we felt rich none the less. We knew that we were living in the greatest nation, during the most extraordinary times in history. My family taught me many things, but perhaps what stands out above all else is that America is a nation that is made of the fabric of its citizens, each of whom deserves the utmost respect. They also taught me that anything is possible with hard work and determination.

May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Day in Maryland, and National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-10!  This week, we honor our educators who have such a huge impact on our children's lives and our nation’s future.  As your representative in Congress, I’ll work hard ensure that our teachers have every resource they need to educate our children effectively in the classroom.  I have four kids (ages 9, 8, 6, and 4), three of whom attend public elementary school, and my youngest son will attend next year.  I’m a proud graduate of public education myself, and I firmly believe in the public education system.  Knowing the true value of a quality education, I support subsidized salaries and benefits for committed teachers. 

Maryland teachers do a great service by preparing our next generation to meet the challenges our country will face in the future.  To every teacher in the 8th District, in the State of Maryland, and in our great country, thank you for your heroic service to our children, our families, and our nation.
